Bible

Read Aloud: Twice Freed - 2 ch. in am/ 2 ch. in pm and Mountain Born to Annalise

Math: workbook pages today - boys in Mammoth Math and Annalise in Miquon's orange book.

Reading on own - I finally conceeded and allowed the 3 younger ones to enter the library's reading program mainly because I was hoping to motivate the boys. Annalise, who hardly needed motivating, has read 8 books today.

Science: Kezzi, Hope and Luke finished listening to the Tracking CD in the Kamana program and made a journal page on mammals. Abel colored his nature journal page from last week.

Kezzi worked on her Ronald Reagan paper after finishing When Character Was King

We all played Apples to Apples by candlelight after the power was knocked out by a storm.

History: Augustus Caesar's World - pgs. 50 - 65

Math: Fraction Jugglers games with boys, Kezzi took a Geometry test
Annalise and I played with Dominoes and did some double-digit addition problems with carrying on the white board. I also gave Abel a multiple-digit multiplication problem on the white board for review.

Well, we are back from vacation and I'm abadoning the Experiment with a sort of unschooling approach. It was great at first and then degenerated into not much worthy activity. So I'm just going to take it one day at a time.

Today the boys had an interesting activity outside of "school". Luke was mowing and saw a large snakeskin by a hole. He dug out the hole and found eight snake eggs. No sign of the snake. First he put the eggs in a container and then thought they might have a better chance of hatching if he put them back in the hole. I think he has attempted to cover it somehow so he can check it everyday and prevent the babies from escaping. How's that for some hands-on science?

Here are the rest of our more traditionally academic activites:

Bible

Read Alouds: Augustus Caesar's World pgs. 35 - 49 and Kezzi read us a poem

Reading: everyone on their own

Math: Fraction Jugglers game with boys, I read Fraction Action to Annalise and she played with our fraction board puzzle. I am so excited about this approach with Annalise. I am amazed at how much she has already learned about fractions. The girls worked on their Teaching Textbook programs.

Science: Kezzi, Hope and Luke listened to the Tracking CD from the Kamana program. Abel and Annalise went out in search of a wildflower to draw in their Nature Journals and they came home and sketched out their pictures.
